More often than not, managerial coaching is a critical component of a Venture Capital value proposition. Particularly in BoP countries, the importance of coaching and sharing best practice experience cannot be overstated.
For Annona, coaching starts with the composition of management teams. At the executive level, we try to combine proven experience with new talent. We are actively involved in identifying candidates for Non-Executive positions who bring specific and relevant skills to the table. We view ourselves as business partners and sounding boards, who join in celebrating local successes but equally share in challenges, frustrations and (sometimes) disappointments.
We are building a team of regional Investment Managers that maintain weekly contact with our ventures, and are able to provide advice on issues such as administration, sourcing, procurement, marketing, planning and reporting. In addition we assist with the mobilization of local or international Technical Assistance resources that can be used where more specialists skills are required – for example related to agronomy or manufacturing.
